In the fall of 1985, I decided to wrap up my research on the ancestry of my father, Burton Fred Landwehr, and publish the results of my research in book form. The result was a self-published book entitled LANDWEHR and Allied Families. The first 220 copies of the book were printed and distributed late in 1986. Since then, there have been two smaller printings of the book, to satisfy additional requests for copies of the book. Printed copies are no longer available for purchase.
The book was written for the descendants of the families featured in the book, and distribution of the book has been to those families. Copies of the book are also available at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, and at the State Historical Society of Missouri Library on the campus of the University of Missouri, in Columbia, Missouri. To provide wider availability of the material contained in this book, I decided to add the contents of the book to this web site. Every chapter of the printed book is provided on this web site. Most of the chapters exactly duplicate the information in the book. There are exceptions, however. Twelve of the chapters in the book contain genealogies of the following twelve families featured in the book.
Henry Landwehr family
Fritz Peitsmeier family
Philip Landwehr family
Maria Landwehr family
Fritz Landwehr family
William Landwehr family
Broemmelsieck family
Lefmann family
Thiekoetter family
Bonsen family
Guese family
Lichte family
The content of these twelve chapters has not been included in the on-line version of the book for privacy reasons. Many of the individuals listed in these chapters are still living.
Readers will also note that maps, charts and photographs referenced at various points in the book are also not available on-line. These illustrations will be added to the on-line version of the book at some future date.
